The Maryland Academy of Family Physicians- Foundation was established in 1988 with the purpose of fostering the specialty of Family Medicine among medical students in order to grow the specialty by insuring an adequate supply of future family physicians.
The MDAFP- Foundation is funded by tax-deductible individual and corporate contributions. It is classified by the US Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit, tax-exempt philanthropic arm of the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians. View the MDAFP- Foundation's ByLaws.
The MDAFP-Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of family health care in Maryland. We encourage pre-medical and medical students to pursue family medicine, support family medicine students in their education, and raise funds to support MDAFP-sponsored education and research projects.
We are dedicated to increasing family physician satisfaction, promoting the communal value of family medicine, and bringing attention to disparities in health care by focusing on the passions of family physicians across the state.
This annual event provides them opportunities to attend workshops and procedure sessions, connect with hundreds of family medicine residencies and employers, learn leadership development skills and network with students, residents and physicians who have common interests.
Topics offered include public health, social determinants of health, family medicine advocacy, leadership, and well-being.
Our
objective is for students to develop a greater awareness and
appreciation for the specialty of Family Medicine, as well as increase
resident's and student's knowledge in the topics presented.
