Thank you to all of those who joined us for our 2021 Family Medicine Advocacy Sessions in February! Your participation in the events helped make an impact in the legislative process and will ensure a more sustainable and equitable future for Family Medicine in Maryland.
The various session discussions focused on three legislative issues – implicit bias and health equity training, expanding and improving telehealth coverage, and Medicaid reimbursement rates. Over 30 MDAFP students, residents and members participated in the event sessions from an array of health care organizations including: Spring Family Medical Center, Poolesville Family Practice, University Family Medicine, Patient First, Teladoc Health, UMMC, Calvert Health, Rose Hill Family Physicians, Maryland Primary Care Physicians, Stone Run Family Medicine, Aledade, Chase Brexton Health Care, Chesapeake Healthcare, GBMC, Bay Crossing Family Medicine and West Cecil Health Center Inc.
Thank you to the following state representatives and senators who volunteered their time to virtually meet and discuss legislation with our members:
- Delegate Ariana Kelly
- Delegate Kirill Reznick
- Senator Brian Feldman
- Senator Melony Griffith
- Delegate Nic Kipke
Lastly, thank you to Steven Wise of Schwartz, Metz & Wise, P.A. for his help in coordinating our legislative meetings and continued partnership with MDAFP.
