On Wednesday, May 7, the Baltimore County Medical Association, in conjunction with the MDAFP is hosting a virtual panel, “Physician Compensation: Why is Maryland so Low and What is the Impact?”

MDAFP’s Vice-President, Dr. Robin Motter-Mast, will serve as moderator and MDAFP President, Dr. Amar Duggirala, will be a panelist.

Discussion topics revolve around why Maryland physicians earn less on average than compared to physicians nationally:

• The limited amount of major insurance carriers in Maryland with several smaller companies.
• Maryland’s Medicare Waiver excluded physicians before MDPCP and EQUIP.
  
• The large disparity of pay between male and female physicians in Maryland.
• Physicians who are employed earn less than those owning their own practice.
