Use Speak Out to stay informed on the issues that matter most to your patients and your practice, spread the word to your colleagues, view current congressional schedules, and – most important – view your federal and state legislators and voice your opinion to them.
You live it every day, but U.S. representatives and senators come from a variety of backgrounds and professions. Only a few are medical professionals, and even fewer are family physicians. AAFP encourages all members to interact with their legislators to keep the voice of Family Medicine alive. Send a form letter, schedule time for legislators to visit your practice, plan to attend a town hall meeting, or attend other events.
FamMedPAC is the American Academy of Family Physicians’ federal political action committee. Its purpose is to help elect candidates to the U.S. Congress who support AAFP’s legislative goals and objectives.
The Robert Graham Center for Policy Studies in Family Medicine and Primary Care conducts research and analysis that brings a family practice perspective to health policy deliberations in Washington. Founded in 1999, the center is an independent research unit working under the personnel and financial policies of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
