Call for Board Nominations!

A great opportunity awaits you to help lead the association dedicated to providing responsible advocacy, representation and leadership for our members, and to promote the specialty of family medicine through awareness and education. MDAFP is currently accepting nominations to its Board of Directors for the following positions:

  • Directors
  • AAFP Alternate Delegate

MDAFP values and seeks diverse leadership from all practice types and sizes and has identified desired attributes that will be part of the selection process for new board members:

  • Demonstrated leadership commitment and experience
  • Commitment to participate in 4 board meetings per year
  • Positive leadership attributes; emotional intelligence; ability to work collaboratively and engage in appropriate debate and discussion
  • Visionary and strategic thinker, in order to incorporate strategy, leadership, future focus and entrepreneurial spirit

Directors terms are 2 years and directors may be eligible to serve additional terms. Open positions will begin upon installation in June at the MDAFP Annual Business Meeting. The board generally meets in person and participates in strategic planning. Board members are expected to participate in all meetings, read the board materials ahead of time and participate in the discussion at the meeting. In addition to in-person meetings, board members are to be responsive to electronic board communications (emails, surveys, etc.) as necessary and participate in committee/workgroup activities. In addition, an annual strategic planning meeting is held in conjunction with one of the board meetings in the Fall.

Nomination deadline is May 15, 2018. If you are nominating someone, please provide a statement of support along with the nominee’s contact information, including email and phone. Self-nominations should include a statement of interest along with a current CV.
