2023 Family Medicine Advocacy Day

February 10, 2022 | 8 am - 12 pm

Tentative Time (Full Schedule TBA)

This one-day event provides opportunities to improve member understanding of the legislative process and to increase member participation and involvement in a fun, fast-paced environment. We will hold leadership training sessions to educate members on timely issues being voted on by legislators that impact our legislative priorities, and how to effectively communicate the MDAFP position to legislators on relevant issues. Members will be provided with an interactive opportunity that will allow them to not only ask questions of our chapter’s lobbyist, but also role-play these discussions with peers before their in-person meetings with the legislators. This training session is extraordinarily beneficial in increasing members’ level of comfort with the proposed topics and advocating for the best interest of their practice and patients. At the conclusion of the in-person meetings at the Maryland State House, we will reconvene as a group to identify key take-away points and discuss how to communicate to our chapter membership.
